The Snyder Industries 5500 Gallon ASTM Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank, part number 7020000N51, puts 5,500 gallons on a 90 inch circle by standing 221 inches tall. It is moulded in polyethylene, weighs 2,000 lb empty and has an 18 inch threaded vented manway on top. The wall is rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, so it takes dense solutions and brines as well as water; 5,500 gallons of water alone weighs 45,870 lb (5,500 x 8.34). The service limit is 120 F (48 C)., and Snyder's warranty is 3 years. The black wall shuts out light, which slows algae and protects light sensitive contents.

Volume from height, not from floor
This is the tank for a yard, a containment area or a plant floor where every square foot is spoken for. A 90 inch circle fits where a wide tank of the same volume would not, and a berm or containment pad around it stays small. The price of that is height. At 221 inches the manway is well above a ladder's easy reach, so plan a fixed ladder with a cage and a platform, and plan the fill line and the vent route before the tank is set. An empty column this tall is light for its size and catches the wind, so anchor it to the slab and tighten the tie-downs before the crane leaves. What to check before you buy
- The liquid. Up to 1.9 times the weight of water and up to 120 F. Check it against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide, and tell us if it runs heavier or hotter.
- The outlet. No bottom fitting is listed for this tank. Give us the liquid and the pipe size and we will confirm the fitting before you order. A tall column puts a lot of head on a base fitting, so use a flexible connector to the hard pipe and support the first valve off the pad.
- The manway. 18 inch threaded and vented, 221 inches up. Fill down a dip tube to the floor if the liquid fumes or splashes, and keep the vent clear in both directions.
