Connections without a ladder
- Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; tell us the liquid when ordering and the fitting is matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 91 inches up, reached from a step; fill by tote pump or truck through a dip tube, vent outside on acid and caustic service, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Nearly eight feet of liquid above a 3 inch outlet is a flooded suction to the last few inches, and the outlet drains a full tank in a working shift; mount the pump below the outlet for a gravity prime, and fit a low-level float so it never pumps air. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss, label the tank so the fire inspector and the workplace inspector read the same thing, and inspect the headspace wall from the manway with a light. Where winters freeze, the valve and the first pipe run are what crack; wrap or trace them, and leave the body to ice over from the top without harm.
