Dense liquid storage under a low roof

At 122 inches tall, this tank puts 7,000 gallons of a dense liquid inside a chemical room or under a shed roof, with the manway close enough to the floor to reach from a short platform. That makes filling, dipping and inspecting a routine task. The 1.9 wall suits concentrated fertilizer solutions, brines and heavier treatment chemicals; for water and lighter liquids, Snyder makes a standard black version of this shell, which we also list. A low tank spreads its load. Full at the rating, up to 110,922 lb rests on a 142 inch circle, so the slab must be level, smooth and in full contact with the whole tank floor; work it out with our concrete pad sizing guide. Wide tanks need wide containment, so lay out the berm or the curbed room around the 142 inch footprint plus working space on every side. Indoors, the vent on the 18 inch manway should be piped to the outside if the liquid gives off fumes. Outdoors, a low wide tank is more stable in wind than a tall one, but at 1,900 lb empty it still needs anchoring before the first fill.

What to check before you buy

1. The liquid. Specific gravity 1.9 or less, temperature at or below 120 F. Check the chemistry against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide and call us about anything not listed.
2. The doorway. If the tank goes indoors, measure the opening and the path. It is 142 inches across and 122 inches tall, so it may have to go in on its side, or the building may have to be finished around it.
3. The outlet. Only the manway is listed. Tell us the liquid and the pipe size and we will confirm the bottom fitting and its material before anything is drilled. Use a flexible connector and support the valve separately.

The tank ships at freight class 300, 142 by 142 by 122 inches and 1,900 lb, from Snyder's plant at Lincoln, Nebraska. At 142 inches across it is wider than a standard load and moves as an oversize shipment. Lift with straps around the body, never from the manway. At the tailgate, check the part number against 5300700N51 on the bill of lading and walk round the base for transit damage. Fill it with water first, let it stand a day, and check the base and pad before the working liquid goes in.
