Where a low, wide tank goes

Forty-four inches is the whole story. This tank stands under a greenhouse bench, in a basement with ductwork across the ceiling, in a low block pump house, or in the bed of a pickup under a cap, and it can be filled by hand without a step. A wide base also makes it the steadiest tank in the family: 42 inches of floor contact under 44 inches of height is a shape that does not want to tip. The width is the thing to check against the door: 42 inches will not pass a standard three foot doorway standing up, so plan the route in before the tank arrives. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. On a rural site it is a sensible buffer for a well or a small fire water reserve; read fire water reservoir design for rural and remote sites before you size one for that duty. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. That is a smaller outlet than the 2 inch fitting on most of the family, so match your valve and hose to 1-1/4 inch or plan on a reducer, and expect a slower drain. If you need a larger outlet, tell us before the order and we will quote the tank with a different bulkhead.
2. Lid. A 5 inch threaded vented lid on top: a fill hose and a float switch go through it, a hand does not. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
