Why the manway matters at this size
A tank that gets cleaned, dosed by hand or fitted with a float and a pump wants a manway, and most small vertical tanks do not have one. This one does, so it is the pick for a chemical mix tank that changes product, a rainwater or well water reserve that needs a submersible pump dropped in, a nutrient tank in a greenhouse that gets scrubbed between crops, or a fire water reserve on a rural site that an inspector will want to look into. At 32 inches across and 67 inches tall it stands in a strip of floor against a wall and clears most ceilings with room to open the manway. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it or seal the lid with tape.
