The Norwesco 265 gallon vertical liquid storage tank, part number 45875, is a polyethylene tank 31 inches in diameter and 91 inches tall, weighing 80 lb empty. It is the most liquid Norwesco stands on a 31 inch circle, and it gets there with height: the lid is over seven and a half feet up. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and an 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. The tank is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals; 265 gallons of water weighs 2210 lb. The tall narrow slot
People buy this tank because they have run out of floor, not budget: a chemical feed column in a treatment building with a high bay, a make-up tank against a stairwell in a food or beverage plant, bulk supply in a pump house where the skid and the controls own the floor, a storage column at the end of a greenhouse range. Ninety-one inches is a genuine column and two things follow. The fill is a line and a coupling brought down to working height, and the level is read through the wall, never by looking in. And the tank is slender for its load, so band it to a wall, a rack or a frame before the first fill, pull the band tight again after the tank has been full once and settled, and never let a rigid pipe be what holds it upright. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one; if you have seen this tank described elsewhere with a higher rating, ask us and we will confirm the rating for the tank that ships. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it. At this height, plan a fixed fill line rather than a hose over the top.
- Height in and height up. The tank goes through a door on its side and is stood up inside, so check the room has the swing to stand a 91 inch tank, not just the ceiling to hold it.
