The Norwesco 525 gallon vertical liquid storage tank, part number 41490, is a polyethylene tank 46 inches in diameter and 78 inches tall, weighing 105 lb empty. It holds a little more than the 500 gallon tanks on a slightly smaller circle of floor, by standing five inches taller. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and an 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. The tank is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals; 525 gallons of water weighs 4378 lb. The service limit is 120 F, and Norwesco backs it with a 3 year limited full-replacement warranty. White lets you read the level through the wall. It ships from Norwesco's Burnet, Texas plant.

The base is the install
Over two tons of water stands inside a 46 inch circle when this tank is full, and every pound is carried by whatever the moulded floor touches. Partial contact is how these tanks fail: a rock under one edge, a dip in an old slab, a pallet, a timber packed in to take out a high spot. Build the base to carry the full circle in continuous contact: a poured slab sized on the framework in our concrete pad sizing guide for above ground polyethylene tanks, a steel deck plate, or outdoors a compacted and screeded gravel bed with fines on top and a retained edge. Set it level with an instrument and leave room around the base for two hands and a wrench at the outlet. Seventy-eight inches of shell on a 46 inch base is stable as tanks go, but strap it to a wall, a frame or ground anchors before the first fill; empty, 105 lb moves in a wind. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware. Tell us if you need a larger outlet and we will quote it factory installed.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: a fill hose, a float switch and a hand with a brush go through it, but not a submersible pump. At 78 inches the lid is reached from a step; plan the fill as a fixed line. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
