Norwesco 1100 Gallon Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank

When the heavy duty 1100 is the right one

Two things set this tank apart from the rest of the 1100 gallon range: the rating and the shape. The rating is 1.9 specific gravity, with a thicker wall and a 5 year warranty, for dense fertilizer solutions, concentrated brines and the chemicals that sit above 1.5; if the liquid is water or a light fertilizer, the standard 1.5 tanks linked below do the job for less. The shape is low and wide, 87 inches across and 53 inches tall, so the manway is at chest height and the tank goes under a low roof, under the eaves of a barn, beside a gutter outlet or on a trailer deck. The price of staying low is a seven foot footprint. Full of a 1.9 liquid it weighs 17431 lb over an 87 inch circle, and that is a load for a flat, continuous, level concrete pad designed for it, not a slab that happens to be there. What goes in it

Dense liquid fertilizers, brines, and the treatment and cleaning chemicals that polyethylene handles are the loads this tank is bought for; water and light liquids are fine in it too. Check every chemical in our chemical compatibility guide first, because the specific gravity rating says the wall can carry the weight, not that the resin suits the chemical; both have to be right. Ask us about anything that is not listed. Nothing hotter than 120 F belongs in it. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Check the valve and its seals against the chemical as well as the tank, and support the valve on its own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, within reach from the ground: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float or a suction line through, and to reach inside to clean between liquids. The vent lets the tank breathe as the level changes.
3. Extra fittings. An overflow, a return line or a second draw-off is a bulkhead fitting through the wall. Tell us before the order and we quote it with the tank. Dry-fit, then hand tight plus a quarter turn.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 400 from the nearest of Norwesco's plants, which include Fairfield, Texas; Hanford, California; Sheldon, Iowa; Owego, New York; Shawnee, Oklahoma; Tooele, Utah and Washougal, Washington. On the pallet it is 87 by 87 by 53 inches and 209 lb: light for its size but wider than a standard pallet, which is why the class is higher than a tall tank of the same volume. At the tailgate, check the part number against 42330 on the bill of lading, because the standard and heavy duty tanks look alike from the outside, look over the wall and the fitting for transit damage, and fill the tank with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless in it.
