The Norwesco 1020 Gallon 15 Degree Cone Bottom Tank is a vertical HDPE cone-bottom built for chemical service and full drainage. It holds 1,020 gallons, stands 53 inches tall on a 91-by-91-inch footprint, and carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating - the higher-density rating that matters when you store dense chemicals, not just water. The 15-degree cone slopes contents toward the bottom outlet so the tank empties almost completely between batches, which is why operators reach for cone bottoms over flat-bottom verticals when handling solutions that settle or need clean changeover.

Will it handle your application?

This is a high-density linear polyethylene (HDLPE) vertical cone tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity, so it can carry liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water. With water, full weight is about 8,507 pounds; at the full 1.9 rating, maximum rated contents weight climbs to roughly 16,163 pounds. Plan your stand and pad for the loaded number, not the empty shell - a cone-bottom tank cannot stand on its own point and must sit in a matching steel stand. The 91-by-91-inch footprint is the load-bearing number for sizing your pad. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the 1020 fits your space and duty, and check the Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix so the stand and tank are matched. If you are weighing cone angles or tank geometries, the Norwesco Cone Bottom Tank Buyer's Guide and the 1020 Gallon 15 Degree complete buyer's guide walk through the trade-offs. Refer to the technical drawing on this page for outlet location and fitting layout.

Chemical compatibility

The tank is molded from HDLPE with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. Always verify against the manufacturer's chemical-resistance chart at your specific concentration and temperature; resistance changes with both. Chemicals this tank can handle, with the recommended fitting and gasket materials, include:

Two services break the "PVC and EPDM are fine" assumption, so read the chart before you spec hardware: Sulfuric Acid at 98% needs CPVC fittings with Viton gaskets, and Peracetic Acid at 30% needs 316 stainless fittings with Aflas gaskets. Match the fitting and gasket material to the chemical, not just the tank - the wrong gasket fails long before the polyethylene does.

DEF, urea, and the rest of the list

This 1020 is a real candidate for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) blending and storage. Per the chemical-resistance chart, DEF at 32.5% and Urea Solution at 50% both call for 316 stainless fittings with EPDM gaskets rather than the PVC default - DEF will corrode the wrong metal, so spec the stainless. The full compatible list also covers ferric sulfate, ferrous sulfate, hydrofluosilicic acid, magnesium chloride, polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium carbonate, sodium thiosulfate, zinc orthophosphate, and ozonated water up to 10 PPM - each with its own concentration, fitting, and gasket guidance in our Chemical Compatibility Database.

Freight and how to order

This tank ships LTL freight from the nearest Norwesco plant - Shawnee, OK or St. Bonifacius, MN - and freight is quoted live to your ZIP. Get your exact number with the Freight Cost Estimator before you order, or call 866-418-1777 and we will quote it by phone and confirm the right fittings, gaskets, and stand for your chemical. Verify your concentration against the manufacturer's chemical-resistance chart, and review the Chemical Compatibility Database for the chemical you are storing.
