A 1100 gallon light blue heavy duty vertical tank, low and wide for a short ceiling
The Norwesco 1100 gallon heavy duty vertical liquid storage tank, part number 40081, is a light blue polyethylene tank 87 inches in diameter and 53 inches tall, weighing 210 lb empty. Where it goes
The 87 inch diameter is the number to take to the site. The tank needs a flat, level, continuous pad at least that wide, with no slope, joint or drain under it; polyethylene tanks carry their load through the whole floor, and a pad that supports only the rim cracks the base over time. At 53 inches tall the manway sits at chest height, so filling, dipping and cleaning happen from the ground with no ladder, which is the everyday advantage of this shape. Full of water the tank is close to 9174 lb on the pad; a liquid at the 1.9 rating is heavier still. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the industrial and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, and the 1.9 rating is what lets this tank take the heavier ones. Light blue lets less light through than white, which slows algae in stored water, while still showing a shadow of the level in daylight. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the sidewall. Your valve, camlock or pipe adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean. The vent is what lets the tank breathe as it fills and drains; never plug it.
