The Norwesco 210 gallon pick up truck water storage tank in white, part number 40300, is a round polyethylene tank 60 inches in diameter and 29 inches tall, weighing 57 lb empty. In a pickup bed
Hauling water to livestock, a remote cabin, a job site or a garden; a water supply for a spray rig or a pressure washer on the truck; a fire watch tank in the bed through the dry months. The one measurement that decides the purchase is the bed: the tank is 60 inches across, so measure the width at the height where the tank will sit, both between the wheel wells and above them, and measure the bed length with the tailgate shut. Full of water the load is about 1800 lb with the tank, which is the payload of a half ton pickup used up in one item, so most people run this tank on a three quarter ton or carry it part full in a half ton. Strap it down through the moulded recesses, never over the lid, and retighten after the first few miles; a round tank that is not strapped turns in the bed under braking. On the ground it wants a flat, continuous surface under the whole bottom.
What goes in it
Water is the normal load, and the name says so, but the 1.5 rating also covers liquid fertilizer and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles; check anything other than water against our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water, which is 12.52 lb per gallon, need a heavy duty tank, not this one, and the contents stay under 120 F. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A ball valve, a camlock or a pump suction threads straight into it, and a 2 inch outlet drains 210 gallons by gravity in a reasonable time. Turn the tank in the bed so the outlet points toward the tailgate or the side you work from before you strap it down.
- Fill lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top, wide enough to fill from a hydrant hose or a pump and to get a hand inside to clean. The vent lets air in as the pump draws; keep the lid on while you drive so the load does not slosh out.
