Where the low 220 goes

At 44 inches tall, this tank goes where most 200 gallon tanks will not: under a deck or a porch roof as a rain reserve, in the back of a van or a covered trailer as a hauling tank, in a low crawl space or utility shed as a household reserve, beside a greenhouse bench where you want to fill from a hose without a step, and on a flatbed as a nurse tank that stays under the height limit. The 42 inch base is as wide as the tank is tall, which is why it is steady empty and gentle on the ground full; the weight of 1835 lb is spread over a wide circle rather than concentrated on a narrow one. What the low shape gives up is head: with less than four feet of water over the outlet, a gravity line from this tank runs slowly, so anything that needs flow wants a pump at or below the outlet. It needs a flat, level, continuous surface under the whole 42 inch floor, and on a vehicle it must be strapped to the deck rather than left to friction. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in, and a 2 inch drain empties the tank quickly. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries water, not hardware.
2. Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for the fill line or the overflow. Run an overflow to daylight away from the base.
3. Lid. A 5 inch threaded vented lid on top. It vents the tank as it fills and drains and takes a hose for a top fill; it is not a manway you can reach into, so clean through the openings or with a wand. If you need to get a hand inside, the 250 gallon tank in this family carries a full manway.
