The Norwesco 325 Gallon Horizontal Leg Tank (SKU N-40217) is a polyethylene horizontal tank built for haul and applicator duty, where the load rides low and the tank empties into a bottom outlet. Molded with integrated legs that cradle the cylinder flat, it is sized for nurse-tank, fertilizer, and ag-fleet work where you need 325 gallons that tows with a low center of gravity. This is the tank growers search for as a Norwesco horizontal leg tank, and it carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating from the factory.

Will it handle my load?

Capacity is 325 gallons of polyethylene horizontal storage. Full of plain water the tank holds about 2,710 pounds; loaded to its maximum rated 1.5 specific gravity, contents can reach roughly 4,066 pounds. That spread is the number to size your trailer, axle, and hitch around - run the figures through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you spec a chassis. The 1.5 SG rating is what lets this tank carry denser-than-water solutions; anything heavier than 1.5 SG needs a different tank, covered below. Outlet size, bulkhead, and leg footprint are confirmed per the technical drawing on this page and your quote - check the drawing for exact fitting location and overall dimensions before you plumb the trailer.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded in linear polyethylene (HDLPE) and rated to 1.5 specific gravity, which is the configuration the OEM chemical-resistance chart covers for these solutions. If your service material is borderline, confirm the resin with us before you commit, since cross-linked and linear poly behave differently with aggressive chemicals. The chart is concentration- and temperature-specific - always match your exact concentration and service temperature against it. Compatible at the 1.5 SG rating:

If you are running DEF, note the metallurgy: the chart calls for 316 stainless fittings and EPDM gaskets, not your existing PVC plumbing - get that right before the first fill. With DEF and 50% urea solution both in spec, this is a practical tank for diesel-exhaust-fluid and liquid-fertilizer hauling. See our fertilizer-blend stratification guide if you are blending, and the full chemical compatibility tool for the complete list.

The mistake to avoid: SG creep

The common error on a 1.5 SG tank is loading something denser than the rating. Several solutions are chemically compatible with the poly but require a higher 1.9 SG tank because of their weight: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Several of these also drive the fitting and gasket spec: hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, and sodium hypochlorite call for Viton gaskets; peracetic acid calls for Aflas; and sulfuric acid calls for CPVC fittings with Viton gaskets. If your chemical is on this list, ask us about the 1.9 SG version before you order this one - call 866-418-1777 and we will point you to the right tank.
