That 5,317-pound figure is the governing limit, and it is doing two jobs at once: it caps how heavy your liquid can be at full volume, and it caps how much volume you can run with a lighter liquid. Water sits at 1.0 SG and the tank is rated to 1.5, so a 1.4 SG load near full volume is fine, but you cannot overfill past 425 gallons to make up for a lighter liquid without pushing past that 5,317-pound ceiling. Chemical compatibility
This is a black polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin family reads as HDLPE here but is not fully confirmed, so confirm whether it is HDLPE or XLPE with us before chemical service, especially for the borderline organics below (acetic acid, urea solution, DEF), where resin grade matters most. Against the manufacturer's chemical-resistance chart (which is concentration- and temperature-specific), the following are compatible with a 1.5 SG polyethylene tank at the concentrations shown. Most run plain PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets, but watch the exceptions: DEF needs 316 stainless fittings, and the organics (acetic acid, urea) call for PP. Do not order PVC fittings for a DEF haul.

Several common chemicals are NOT a fit for this 1.5 SG tank and require a heavier 1.9 specific gravity tank instead - among them Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Sulfuric Acid. Note that the gasket spec also changes with these: where the 1.5 SG list runs all EPDM, several of the 1.9 SG chemicals (hydrochloric, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, phosphoric) require Viton, and sulfuric acid calls for CPVC fittings with Viton gaskets. The mistake to avoid
The single most common error on a leg tank like this is loading a liquid heavier than the 1.5 SG rating - a 1.7 or 1.9 SG chemical in a 1.5 tank stresses the walls and legs past design, especially under the dynamic loads of transport. The legs and saddle are engineered around that 1.5 ceiling and the 5,317-pound maximum rated contents weight; do not exceed either, and do not overfill volume to compensate for a lighter liquid.
