A 5,000 gallon black heavy duty vertical tank for the heavy liquids
The Norwesco 5,000 gallon black heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 40166B, is a polyethylene tank 102 inches across and 152 inches tall, weighing 1,131 lb empty. The heavy duty rating of 1.9 specific gravity means it is built for liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water: fertilizers, brines, and most treatment and process chemicals, as well as water itself, which weighs 41,700 lb at this volume. It comes with a 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The resin is FDA compliant, Norwesco lists the tank as NSF 61, the service limit is 120 F, and this heavy duty tank carries Norwesco's 5 year warranty. Black keeps light out of the contents.

The pad comes first
Full, this tank puts over 20 tons, and up to 79,000 lb at the 1.9 rating, on a circle 102 inches across. The pad is not an afterthought: it has to be flat, level, continuous under the whole base and designed for that load. Allow headroom: 152 inches of shell plus the manway is just under 13 feet, and someone has to reach the manway from a ladder or a platform. What it is used for
At this size and rating the tank is bulk storage: fertilizer at a dealer or a farm, brine or treatment chemical at a plant, process water held for reuse, or a fire water reserve. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall, supplied with a 2 inch reducer so you can plumb it at either size. Use the full 3 inches for gravity draining or a large pump; use the reducer for a 2 inch valve and hose.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a float or level sensor, and access for cleaning.
- Extra ports. Returns, overflows and gauge taps are bulkhead fittings added at flat areas of the wall. Tell us what you need and we put them on the same order.

Anything bolted to the wall, pipe, valve or sensor, is supported on its own frame. The tank holds liquid, not hardware.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from the nearest of Norwesco's plants, 102 by 102 by 152 inches: this is a flatbed or a tall van, and a tank this size is unloaded with a forklift from the base or with slings under the body, never by the manway or the fitting.
