Part number 45383 is Norwesco's 4950 gallon cone bottom tank with a shallow 15 degree cone, moulded in light blue high density linear polyethylene at the heavy duty 1.9 specific gravity rating. It is 102 inches in diameter and 159 inches tall, and weighs 1480 lb empty. The cone drains to a 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the point, and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top takes the fill line and lets air in and out. The 1.9 rating covers liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water: 4950 gallons of water weighs 41283 lb, and at the 1.9 rating the contents can run to 78438 lb. The resin is FDA compliant per Norwesco, the service limit is 120 F, and Norwesco backs the tank with a 3 year warranty. Why the 15 degree cone
A cone bottom tank drains completely through its low point, which is why it is bought for slurries, blends that separate, and chemicals you do not want sitting in a dead zone. The 15 degree cone is Norwesco's shallowest. It drains more slowly than a 30 or 45 degree cone and leaves a little more film on the wall, but it stands shorter at the same volume, and under a building roof that is often the deciding number. - Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the point of the cone. Your valve threads straight into it; support the valve and the first length of pipe from the stand or the floor so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway. The vent is part of the lid and must stay clear; a tank drained through a 3 inch port pulls in air as fast as liquid leaves.
