The Norwesco 4995 gallon black heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 44824B, is a rotomolded polyethylene tank 142 inches in diameter and 89 inches tall, weighing 969 lb empty. Where it goes and what it holds
This is a tank for a site with a height limit and a reason to get inside it: a fertilizer or chemical bulk tank under a canopy, a brine tank at a water plant, a process tank in a block building, or a rainwater cistern behind a commercial roof. The 22 inch manway is the difference from most tanks this size. It takes a larger float valve or a submersible pump, passes a mixer shaft, and lets a person with the right confined space precautions reach well inside for cleaning. At 89 inches the top of the tank is a little over seven feet up, within reach from a short step. The heavy duty wall is for liquids denser than water; for plain water the standard wall tank in the same mould costs less. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube, factory installed. The siphon tube reaches down inside the tank so the fitting can sit above the floor and still draw from near the bottom; Norwesco's drawing shows the fitting height and the tube. Your valve or pump suction threads straight into the 3 inch female thread. Support the valve and the first length of pipe within a foot of the wall so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top. Leave the vent clear so air can move as the level changes, and keep the lid on; a 22 inch opening is big enough to be a fall hazard for a child or an animal.
- Extra ports. Only the one outlet comes installed. A recirculation return, a second draw or an overflow means extra bulkhead fittings; tell us when you order and we quote them with the tank.
