Where a saddle tank goes
A saddle tank carries starter fertilizer, herbicide or water alongside the tractor so the planter or the cultivator behind it can draw as it works, without a nurse trailer in tow. What goes in it
Liquid starter fertilizer, herbicide and insecticide mixes, and water for the mix. Check anything other than water in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; the entries for urea solution, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride are the ones applicator buyers ask about most. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavier rated tank. Keep the contents under 120 F, which matters for a white tank in the sun on a long day. - Outlet. A 3/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Most applicator pumps and metering systems plumb to this size directly; a 3/4 inch ball valve at the tank lets you isolate one side of a pair.
