The Norwesco 70 Gallon Applicator Saddle Tank (SKU N-44237) is a white polyethylene saddle tank built for fertilizer and applicator duty on the frame, sprayer, or utility trailer. It carries a 70-gallon rating, a 1.5 specific-gravity resin rating, and an FDA-approved material spec. The contoured saddle profile drops the load low across a 44" length, 23" width, and 26" height, with a 23" footprint diameter, so a full tank sits stable rather than top-heavy over the axle.

Does it work for your load?

Empty, the tank weighs 25 lb. Filled with plain water it carries about 584 lb; loaded to its full 1.5 SG rating it can hold up to 876 lb of contents, so heavier-than-water fertilizer and UAN blends up to 1.5 specific gravity stay inside the resin's design envelope — anything denser does not. The tank fills through a 5" threaded fill neck sized for the PN 63484 lid, so order that matching lid rather than a generic 5" cap. It drains through a 3/4" outlet; confirm the thread/bulkhead style and match the fitting and gasket to your contents (see below). Rated to 120 F / 48 C, it suits ambient field and yard service. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the fill weight against your mount before you spec the frame.

Chemical compatibility

Before anything else: the resin code reads HDLPE?, meaning it is unconfirmed HDLPE versus XLPE. That single unknown changes the whole compatibility read, so verify it with us before any chemical service — the list below assumes the Snyder Industries OEM 1.5 SG chart holds. That chart is concentration and temperature specific, and this tank's 120 F / 48 C max service temperature matters as much as the resin rating: factor reaction and ambient heat, not just the number on the label. Matched to the right fitting and gasket, the following are compatible with a 1.5 SG tank: acetic acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), aluminum sulfate (50%, PVC/EPDM), calcium chloride (40%, PVC/EPDM), DEF (32.5%, 316SS/EPDM), ferrous sulfate (20%, PVC/EPDM), magnesium chloride (30%, PVC/EPDM), sodium carbonate (30%, PVC/EPDM), urea solution (50%, PP/PVC/EPDM), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM, PVC/EPDM). Always confirm the exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting plus gasket material against the OEM chart and our chemical compatibility reference.

Some chemicals need more resin than this tank offers. Ethylene glycol, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluosilicic acid, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, phosphoric acid, polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium hypochlorite, sodium thiosulfate, sulfuric acid, and zinc orthophosphate all call for a higher 1.9 SG tank — do not run them in this 1.5 SG applicator. Call us and we will size the correct heavier-rated tank instead.

Freight

This Norwesco applicator saddle tank ships LTL from the nearest Norwesco plant — Sheldon, IA or Lancaster, OH — quoted live to your ZIP; there is no flat national rate on a tank this size. Get a number in seconds with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will quote it by phone. For DOT and agricultural-exemption context on farm-fleet applicator tanks, see our guides on Norwesco applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer and the 49 CFR 173.5 agricultural exemption, and check the technical drawing on this page for the fill-neck and outlet layout before you build the mount.
