Secondary Containment Tanks
Secondary Containment Tanks / Spill Containment TanksOur secondary containment tanks—also known as open top containment tanks, spill containment tanks, containment trays, or containment basins—provide essential protection for storing hazardous or regulated liquids in agricultural, industrial, manufacturing, and commercial settings. These tanks serve as a reliable secondary barrier to capture leaks, spills, or overflows from primary storage tanks, preventing environmental contamination, groundwater pollution, equipment damage, or costly cleanup.Commonly used to house vertical, horizontal, or cone bottom tanks inside them, secondary containment tanks are sized with a capacity greater than the primary tank to fully contain any potential release. This design creates a safe, enclosed barrier between the stored liquid and the surrounding environment.Made from FDA-approved high-density virgin polyethylene resin by Norwesco, these tanks are safe for chemicals, fertilizers, and even potable water storage. The seamless rotational-molded construction delivers exceptional resistance to rust, corrosion, impact, and chemical degradation. Integrated UV inhibitors protect against sun exposure, allowing dependable year-round performance indoors or outdoors across a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.Key advantages include:
- Flat bottom design — No additional structural support required; sits stably on any level surface.
- Lightweight and portable — Easier to move and install than heavy concrete berms or double-walled alternatives.
- Cost-effective — An affordable, low-maintenance option compared to concrete containment structures or built-in double-wall tanks.
- Open-top accessibility — Simplifies inspection, cleaning, and quick spill recovery.
