Batch, make-up and skid duty

One hundred gallons is a batch, not a supply: the make-up tank beside a mixer, the day tank a metering pump draws from between drum deliveries, the chemical reservoir on a trailer or a maintenance skid, a small acid or coagulant feed in a plant room. The 1.9 rating lets those loads be dense and the black wall keeps light out of them. Water barely tests this tank, so plain water duty does not need this grade; the lighter walls in the same shell are linked below. At 41 inches the lid is waist height, which makes this the tank in the family that gets opened casually, and on a dense chemical that is the risk to manage: every opening on the log, a light on the wall above the liquid line, the lid seated properly after. The ground still matters at this size. Full of water it puts 834 lb on a 30 inch circle, and at the rating 1,585 lb; a rotomolded floor bears on the whole pad, so it sits on a level surface in full contact per our concrete pad sizing guide, never bridged across a grate or set on a pallet as a stand. It is light enough to move empty, so once it is full it does not get dragged. Where the liquid is regulated, it sits inside a berm sized to the tank.

Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top: on a 30 inch shell the lid is most of the top. A drum pump or a hose fills 100 gallons in minutes, which is exactly when an undersized vent path shows up as a lid that weeps. Fill at a rate the vent can keep up with.
2. Headspace. It is tempting to fill until you see liquid at the rim. Leave the freeboard the sizing guide calls for so a warming liquid has room.
3. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding.
4. Fill line. Even 41 inches of free fall foams and splashes. A short dip tube to the floor keeps the headspace wall clean and the manway threads dry.
