Band it while it is empty even though a low, wide shell is the least wind-sensitive shape here, and look at the bands after the first storm and at the end of the first summer, because a black wall in the sun grows a little every day. The reason to buy this one is that it is the plain high-density wall in the wide shell, so you pay for the footprint, the colour and the rating and not for cross-linking. On a liquid that does not ask for a cross-linked wall, that is the honest specification, and the shell gives up nothing to its stablemate: the cross-linked wall molded in this identical shape is listed separately and shares every dimension, every weight and the same rating, so the two are chosen on chemistry alone. Against the 1831000 tanks in the table, this tank takes back height and spends floor, which is the trade to make when the roof is the binding constraint; each of those is rated as its own sheet says. The 1810000C34 is the slim, very tall smaller tank for an alley, and the 1710000C26 is the widest and lowest tank at the volume above.

An eighteen inch manway at the top of a sixty-nine inch shell

• Access before anything else: an 18 inch threaded, vented manway five feet nine inches off the pad, with molded ladder lugs on the shell for the ladder to anchor to. It is a short climb, which is the practical difference between this shell and a tall 1,000 gallon tank, and eighteen inches takes a fill hose, a vent line and a probe together plus a cleaning wand. Nobody enters it; the wand does the inside.
• Outlet: the sheet's outlet field reads "1 Manway / Lid" and lists no bottom fitting size anywhere. That is printed as given, not read as a pipe size. Name the liquid and the draw-off you want at order and we confirm what this molding accepts and in what material before anything is cut.
• Fill and vent: a dip tube to the floor so the stream does not free-fall and foam the headspace, the vent piped outdoors on anything that fumes, sized to the delivery pump rather than the nearest port, and looked at every time the cover comes off.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C. Warranty: 3 year. Rating: specific gravity 1.9 as the sheet gives it.

On a high-density wall the part that needs the most attention is the part nobody looks at. Everything else follows the usual discipline: a light on that band each time the cover is off, the thread and gasket seat checked while the light is out, the date on the log, a sender and a local readout because a black wall shows nothing, base plumbing on its own support with a flexible connector to hard pipe, and freeze protection on the piping and the first valve rather than on the body.

Dark bulk storage where the headspace does the ageing

A dense process liquid or concentrate at a plant with a low chemical room, a brine or makeup tank on a wash line, a bulk holding tank on a mixing and dosing skid, a farm or co-op solution that has to stay out of the light, and an outdoor pad in a sunny climate where a pale shell would take the ultraviolet all summer. The wide, low shape is also the one people gang in twos and threes on a single slab, because the roof never becomes the argument. Water at 8.34 pounds per gallon sits far inside the rating, so this tank will hold water perfectly well; a private fire reserve is a different specification in a water-rated vessel.
