Height instead of floor, and what it costs

A tank this tall on a base this small is the most gallons per square foot Snyder makes at this volume, and everything about the install follows from that: full at the rating it puts 13,469 pounds on a 48 inch circle, so it stands on an engineered slab per the concrete pad sizing guide; empty, ten feet of polyethylene on a four foot base goes over in a gust or a bump, so it is strapped to structure at the top third before the first fill; and the manway is opened from a platform with a rail, not a ladder. Black polyethylene ages far slower than white in the sun and keeps a light-sensitive chemical at strength; it runs warmer, so shade if the liquid must stay cool, and it hides the level, so a sender read at the pad goes in with the tank. The N42 is the cross-linked one for hypochlorite and peroxide, the N48 the other chemical grade, and the N51 the other black tank in this shell, all listed ten pounds heavier on the sheet. Outlet, manway, platform

• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 117 inches up; a platform with a rail for anyone who opens it. Fill from a truck or a tote through a dip tube, vent outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Nearly ten feet of liquid above the outlet is a strong flooded suction for any pump; mount it below the outlet so it primes by gravity, and put a low-level float on it. The sender is the gauge on a black wall, read at the pad, because nobody climbs to look. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss, label the one chemical the tank holds, and where it freezes, wrap or trace the outlet valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
