The Snyder Industries 12500 Gallon HDLPE Vertical Double Wall Liquid Chemical Storage Tank in White is built for bulk chemical containment where a secondary barrier is mandatory. It is molded in high density linear polyethylene with a 1.5 specific gravity rating, standing 274 inches tall on a 142.0 x 142.0 inch footprint. The double wall design integrates the primary tank and an outer containment shell into one unit, so you get the storage volume and the containment in a single placement rather than a tank-plus-basin assembly.

Will it work for your application?

Capacity is 12,500 gallons. At full water it carries 104,250 lb, and at the maximum rated contents weight it carries 156,375 lb, reflecting the 1.5 SG ceiling. Those figures are nameplate-full numbers; your engineered fill height after freeboard sets the real working load, so size the pad, ring wall, or slab to the loaded weight and run your fill height and contents density through the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide when sizing against a process volume. Per the technical drawing on this page, this vertical storage tank carries a FLANGE, an 18" PE threaded/vented fitting, and a MANWAY w/ 15" ACCESS for entry and inspection. Confirm the fitting locations and elevations on that drawing match your piping and vent routing before fabrication. None of the listed fittings is a dedicated interstitial leak-detection port, so confirm how you will monitor the annular space between the walls with us or against the drawing before you order.

Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The HDLPE resin sets the chemical service envelope, so match your chemical, its concentration, and its operating temperature to the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration and temperature specific, before you commit to a service. The following chemicals are compatible with this 1.5 SG HDLPE tank at the listed concentrations, using the noted fitting and gasket materials:

  • Acetic Acid at 60% — PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Aluminum Sulfate at 50% — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Calcium Chloride at 40% — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • DEF at 32.5% — 316SS fittings (not PVC), EPDM gaskets
  • Ferrous Sulfate at 20% — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Magnesium Chloride at 30% — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Sodium Carbonate at 30% — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Urea Solution at 50% — PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
  • Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM — PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets (confirm this strong-oxidizer duty directly with us)

The mistake to avoid on this tank is reading across the 1.5 SG line. Several chemicals require a higher-SG (1.9) tank, not this one: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Specifying the 1.9 SG version also changes the wrapper materials per chemical, so spec them with the body: Viton gaskets for hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid (with CPVC fittings on sulfuric); Aflas gaskets with 316SS fittings for peracetic acid; and the PP/316SS or PVC/PP packages noted elsewhere on the list. Verify every selection against the OEM chemical-resistance chart at your concentration and temperature, and cross-check the full list in our Chemical Compatibility Database.

Containment engineering and instrumentation

Because this is a double wall vertical tank for chemical service, the protections around it matter as much as the tank itself. Confirm the outer-shell capacity against the 12,500 gallon primary on the technical drawing so the containment meets your code requirement, and read our walkthrough on Snyder Captor double-wall tanks for SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance for the regulatory side. The freeboard sizing guide explains why your usable volume is below the nameplate 12,500 gallons once thermal expansion and density are accounted for. For monitoring, see our guides on tank level gauge selection for chemical service and spillover redundancy engineering for high-level alarm and cutoff valve architecture.

This double wall tank ships LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Lincoln, NE, quoted live to your ZIP. Get a freight quote with our Freight Cost Estimator or call 866-418-1777. Because this is a 12,500 gallon double wall unit, confirm site access, offload equipment, and your prepared pad before scheduling, and have your chemical, concentration, and operating temperature ready so we can confirm the fitting and gasket package against the OEM chart.
