Bulk storage for heavy liquids

A tank this size is bought to take a full transport load and hold it. The 1.9 wall is what lets it hold dense liquids: brines, calcium chloride, heavy liquid fertilizers and the bulk chemicals used in water treatment, up to 1.9 times the weight of water. Check that polyethylene suits the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide and tell us the concentration before you order. For water only, a lighter rated tank does the job.

The natural white wall is translucent, so the liquid line shows through it, which is a practical level check on a tank this tall. The trade is light: water stored in sun in a natural tank can grow algae, and some chemicals degrade in light. If either matters, ask us about a black tank at this size.

The load is the design problem. Full at the rating, about 237,690 lb bears on a 142 inch base, and the slab under it has to be level, continuous and engineered for that weight. A chemical tank this large almost always needs secondary containment sized to its volume; check your local and site rules early, because the berm or wall shapes the site. Openings, and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 234 inches up. Plan the fill line, the vent path and safe access to the top before the tank is set; nobody should be climbing a tank this tall on a routine fill.
2. Outlet and fittings. No outlet fitting is listed with this part number. A bulk tank usually needs a bottom outlet, a fill line and a vent sized to the fill rate; tell us the pump rate and pipe sizes and we will confirm with Snyder what the tank carries and what to add.
3. Temperature. 120 F is the limit.

Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 250 from Lincoln, Nebraska, 142 by 142 by 234 inches at 5,800 lb. That is an oversize load and it comes off with a crane, not by hand. Call us before you order so we can plan the truck, the route into the site and the lift with you. Never lift it by the manway. At the tailgate, check the bill of lading against 5370000N45 and walk the whole shell for transit marks. Set it on the finished pad, fill it with water first and watch the base for a day before the working liquid goes in.
