The mistake to avoid
Set the tank on a fully supporting, level pad sized for the loaded weight, not the empty shell. A tall 80-inch vertical tank on a 35-inch base is top-heavy when full, so the pad must carry the full contents load and the tank must be anchored — review concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks before you pour. Seal fittings correctly too: use gasketed bulkhead fittings and PE-rated thread sealant seated against the molded flat, hand-tight plus a controlled quarter-turn rather than torquing — the PE bungs and threaded-vented manway rely on gasket seating, not thread crush.
