Cross-linked and black: the combination for hard duty outdoors

This tank pairs two choices. The cross-linked wall is the tougher of Snyder's resins for chemistry duty, with a 1.9 specific gravity rating for liquids nearly twice as dense as water and a 140 F service limit; our article on when cross-linking matters for chemistry duty explains the difference. The black colour keeps light out of the tank, which holds back algae in stored water and protects liquids that break down in sunlight. Together they make a tank for a dense or light sensitive liquid that lives outside. Black does warm in full sun, so on a hot site keep the contents below the 140 F limit with shade.

The shape is broad and low for the volume: 48 inches across and 55 inches tall, about four and a half feet. The top stays within reach from a step, and the tank fits under eaves and low roofs, but it needs a generous pad and a wide path in; 48 inches will not pass a standard doorway.

2. Openings. No outlet or manway size is stated for this tank on this page. Tell us the pipe size and the connections you need, and we will confirm the openings from Snyder's drawing before it ships.
3. Level. You cannot see the liquid through a black wall; plan a sight tube or gauge.
