The Snyder Industries 405 Gallon Sodium Hypochlorite (UV) Double Wall Tank (SKU 5990702N52) is a tank-in-tank secondary-containment vessel built for aggressive oxidizer service. It stands 73 inches tall on a 48 x 48 inch square footprint, holds a rated 405 gallons, and is molded from HDLPE #880059 in opaque white. The UV-stabilized white shell gives sodium hypochlorite its best shot at staying stable in sunlight, and the double-wall build means a breach in the inner tank is caught by the outer wall instead of your slab. This is a genuine Snyder double wall tank, not a single-wall drum sitting in a tray.

Will it work for your application?

The spec that governs everything here is the specific gravity rating: 1.9. Sodium hypochlorite runs heavier than water, and the higher-SG resin package is what lets this tank legally carry it. At 405 gallons of plain water the inner tank weighs about 3,378 lbs full; at maximum rated contents it is engineered for up to 6,418 lbs, so the wall thickness has real margin for dense chemistry. Note that 405 gallons is the rated shell volume, not your usable day-tank volume — correct freeboard for the thermal expansion of hypochlorite pulls your working number below 405, so size to that. The Captor double-wall freeboard sizing guide works through that math, and the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you match volume to your dosing demand. The drawing shows an 18-inch PE threaded/vented fitting and a manway with 15-inch access; that manway is your route for inner-tank inspection, cleanout, and gauging — the concrete reason to run double-wall over a single wall plus tray. Confirm the exact bulkhead and outlet locations against the technical drawing on this page before you finalize plumbing.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error with sodium hypochlorite is buying a 1.0 or 1.5 specific-gravity tank because it is cheaper, then filling it with a 1.9-SG oxidizer. This tank is rated 1.9, so the body is covered — but do not extend that logic to fittings and gaskets. Hypochlorite attacks the wrong elastomers and metals, so confirm the gasket material and any metal hardware on the 18-inch vented fitting are hypochlorite-rated before install; the pack confirms the fitting and manway, but outlet size and height are not specified here, so verify them on the drawing rather than assuming. The vent matters too: hypochlorite off-gasses, and the 18-inch vented fitting exists for that reason — never cap it. If this is a containment install under SPCC, the SPCC 40 CFR 112 walkthrough covers the compliance side, and set the tank on a properly sized pad per the concrete pad sizing framework.

Freight

This double wall tank ships empty by LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Chowchilla, California. At 73 inches tall on a 48 x 48 inch footprint it is a full-pallet LTL piece, so plan for a freight-class delivery rather than parcel. Freight is quoted live to your ZIP — get a number in seconds with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call us at 866-418-1777 and we will work the rate and lead time with you. Listed price is before freight; your total depends on destination and accessorials.
