The Snyder Industries 440 Gallon ASTM XLPE Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is an ASTM XLPE vertical storage tank molded from Crosslinked Linear Polyethylene, rated to a 1.9 specific gravity and standing 69 inches tall on a 53 x 53 inch footprint. Finished in Natural White, its 440-gallon capacity makes it a workhorse for bulk water storage, agricultural supply, rainwater collection, and fire-water reservoir duty on rural and remote sites.
Will it work for your site?
Confirm three things before you commit: capacity, footprint, and fitting layout. Filled with water, this tank carries about 3,670 pounds; at its full 1.9 specific-gravity rating it is engineered to hold up to 6,972 pounds of contents, so your pad has to carry that fully loaded weight. Size the pad for the loaded tank, not the empty shell. The technical drawing on this page shows the fitting package: a flange outlet plus an 18-inch polyethylene threaded, vented manway lid. The 18-inch lid size is specified, but confirm the flange outlet and gasket size off that drawing before you buy plumbing. That vented lid matters because a sealed atmospheric tank can deform under pump-down or thermal swing, so keep the vent clear. If you are unsure the 440 is the right size, run the numbers with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before ordering.
Why XLPE and where it belongs
This is a crosslinked (XLPE) tank, not standard HDPE. Crosslinking builds molecular bonds that improve impact and environmental-stress-crack resistance and support that higher 1.9 specific-gravity rating, which is why it holds up as a heavy-duty vertical storage tank in demanding water and utility service. If you are weighing the two materials for your application, our guide on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE walks through when crosslinking earns its keep. For pad design under an above-ground poly tank, see Concrete Pad Sizing for Above-Ground Polyethylene Tanks.
The mistake to avoid
The common miss on a vertical storage tank this size is treating it as sealed. It has an 18-inch vented lid for a reason. Plumbing a tight-sealed inlet or capping the vent invites vacuum collapse during draw-down. Keep the manway vent open, support the flange outlet against pipe strain, and set the tank dead level on full-contact concrete.
