What the heaviest empty weight buys

Empty weight is the most honest clue a tank gives about how much material went into the wall, and at 141 lb this one carries more than the 550 gallon shells beside it. That is the duty it is bought for: a tank that gets pumped hard, gets bumped, and is expected to still be standing in a decade. Water haulers and fill stations buy it, dairies and food plants buy it as a rinse-water vessel, treatment rooms buy it as a standing supply for a metering pump. The white wall means the level is read without a gauge. The same translucency is the limit: anything that spoils or grows in light belongs in the black version. Under the tank, 4,170 lb of water, or up to 7,923 lb at the rating, bears on the whole floor of a 53 inch circle, so the pad is engineered per our concrete pad sizing guide, poured level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank wherever the liquid is regulated. Pump duty on the tallest tank in this group

1. Pump. The standing column in this shell is the best suction head in the family, so mount the pump below the tank floor on its own base and keep the suction leg short. A flooded pump that never has to re-prime is the whole reason to accept a tall shape where a short one would also fit.
2. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank. Where the draw must come over the rim, a drop pipe to the floor with a foot valve and strainer keeps every joint above the liquid line where it can be seen. Name the liquid and the draw-off at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding before anything is cut.
3. Run-dry protection. A level switch above the floor that stops the pump; running it dry once costs more than the switch.
4. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at 77 inches, the highest lid in this family. Give it a step or a small platform, land a permanent fill line at the lid, run a dip tube to the floor so the incoming stream does not free-fall and foam, and vent outdoors on anything that fumes with the vent sized to the filling pump.

At the tailgate, check the part number against 5780100N42 on the bill of lading, walk the wall and the manway threads for transit damage before signing, and fill it with water the first time before it carries anything else. Carry the first valve on its own support off the pad with a flexible connector to hard pipe; freeze protection goes on the piping, not the body.
