Where 440 gallons is the right batch

Four hundred and forty gallons is the volume that shows up when a process runs a shift on one tank: a warm bath make-up in a finishing shop, a coagulant or acid feed at a small water plant, a concentrated chemical on a skid, a nurse supply beside a mixer. The first decision is the shell, not the grade. If a measured clearance rules out the taller 500 gallon tank on this same footprint, that settles it, and it is a better decision than buying the tall tank and finding the lid cannot be opened. Under the tank, 3,670 lb of water or up to 6,972 lb at the rating bears on a 53 inch circle, because a moulded floor carries on the whole pad and on nothing else; pour the slab level and in full contact per our concrete pad sizing guide, inside a berm sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated, and band the tank to structure before the first fill.

Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at 69 inches, at or above head height for most people, so a small platform or a tied-off ladder and a permanent fill connection at the lid rather than a hose lifted over the rim. Fill and vent share this opening; 440 gallons arrives quickly from a transfer pump and the air above the liquid has to leave as fast as the liquid enters, or the headspace loads the gasket.
2. Outlet. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off at order and we will confirm what Snyder fits to this moulding.
3. Headspace. A wall rated to 140 F gets bought for warm duty, and warm liquid expands. Fill to the freeboard the sizing guide specifies rather than to the lid.
4. Fill line. A dip tube to the floor stops 69 inches of free fall from foaming the liquid and wetting the manway threads.
