Nearly twelve feet of tank on a circle that narrow has a high center of gravity, so the strapping is designed before the pad is poured: anchors in the slab, bands to structure at the top third, a check after the first windy week and the first summer. Snyder holds 4,500 gallons three ways. This slim shell stands it on 102 inches at 142 tall; a lighter-walled twin in the same shell carries a lower rating on its own page for liquids that are not dense. The 7000400 N-grades lay the same volume down to 91 inches on a 143 inch base at 900 pounds, all rated 1.35, two of them black and the N29 listed without a color word, for a site with floor and no height. The 5210000N40 is slimmer and taller still, 4,400 gallons on a 90 inch base at 182 inches, and the 7000500N40 puts 4,600 gallons on a ten foot base at 116 inches. This tank is the one when the floor is the constraint, the liquid is heavy and hard on a wall, and the roof has twelve feet.

One hundred forty-two inches to the manway

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway at 142 inches, eleven feet ten inches off the pad, reached from a fixed platform with a rail; a slim tank wants the platform tied to structure, not to the tank. Fill through a dip tube to the floor, vent outdoors on a liquid that fumes, size the vent to the delivery pump.
• Outlet: the sheet's outlet field reads 23, a bare number with no size, thread or material on it; we print it as given. Name the liquid at order and the bulkhead fitting, gasket and bolting are specified to it, with a flexible connector to hard pipe and the first valve on its own support.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C.

Nearly twelve feet of liquid stands above the outlet on this tank where the wide 4,500s give less than eight, so a transfer pump set below the outlet runs flooded further into the tank and the last few inches drain faster. That head is also more pressure on the fitting and the first valve than the low tanks put on theirs, one more reason the valve stands on its own support and the connector is flexible. A low-level float stops the pump before it draws air. The lid stays shut between deliveries, the wall carries the name of the one chemical inside, and the headspace band gets a light at every opening. Where it freezes, trace or wrap the valve and the first pipe run; the body ices from the top down without harm.

West Coast chemical pads that need a heavy wall

A Central Valley water plant adding an acid or ferric tank between two that are already there, a food plant with a dense brine and a narrow chemical alley, and an industrial plant with a tall bay and no floor to spare.
