A 4,500 gallon black XLPE tank rated 1.35, for liquids near water weight
Snyder part number 7000400N32 is a 4,500 gallon vertical storage tank moulded in black crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE), 143 inches in diameter and 91 inches tall, 900 lb empty. It is the lightest rated wall on Snyder's widest, lowest mould in this capacity: just under twelve feet across and a little over seven and a half feet tall. The wall is rated for liquids up to 1.35 specific gravity, which means liquids up to 1.35 times the weight of water: water itself, most liquid fertilizers and the lighter treatment chemicals. 4,500 gallons of water weighs 4,500 x 8.34 = 37,530 lb. The top carries an 18 inch threaded vented manway. Snyder puts the service limit at 140 F (60 C), and backs it with a 3 year warranty. Black keeps light out of the contents.

The 1.35 wall: the honest buy for a liquid near water weight
Four ratings come out of this 143 x 91 inch mould, and this is the one whose rating is 1.35. A liquid at or a little above water weight never asks a wall for more than this; the heavier walls in the same shell are duty you pay for and never use. If the liquid is genuinely dense, this is not the tank. At 91 inches the manway is reachable from a stepladder and the shell goes under a joist ceiling or a shed roof; the cost is a 143 inch circle that will not pass a doorway, so walk the route from the dock to the pad with a tape first. What goes in it
Water first. Check anything other than water in our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in, and check its weight against 1.35. Openings and fittings
- Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top of a 91 inch shell: room for a permanent fill connection, a float or sender, and a hand and brush inside to clean. Run a dip tube to the floor so the fill stream does not foam the headspace.
- Outlet. Tell us the liquid, the flow and the pump at order and we confirm the outlet this tank is supplied with before anything is drilled. With only 91 inches of liquid above the floor the suction head is small: mount the pump below the outlet, fit a low level float, and carry the first valve on its own support with a flexible connector to the shell.
