Why buy the tall shell

Snyder makes 6,000 gallons in black on more than one shell, and this is the one on the 102 inch circle. Pick it when the pad is hemmed in: a tank yard between a wall and a drive, a containment berm already poured for a smaller tank, a corner of a plant where a wider circle will not go. Height costs you two things here. The first is wind: fifteen feet of empty black cylinder is a sail, so this tank is strapped to structure or anchored to the pad before the first fill, not after. The second is access: the manway is opened from a fixed platform with a rail, and the fill line runs up the wall to it rather than being lifted in a hose. In return, the full tank has the tallest column of liquid in the family, so a pump at grade stays flooded and a gravity feed has real head. What to check before you buy

1. Clear height. 188 inches to the top of the tank, plus the manway lid, plus room to open it. Measure to the lowest obstruction, not the roof deck.
2. The outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. Under fifteen feet of head the static pressure at the outlet is the highest in this family, so use a flexible connector to hard pipe and carry the first valve on its own support.
3. The manway. 18 inch threaded and vented. Leave the vent clear; a tall tank pulls a strong vacuum if a pump draws against a blocked vent.
4. The liquid. Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals up to 120 F; ask us about anything aggressive before you order.
