The containment area this one drops into

Think about the containment area first, because that is usually what this tank is replacing. A site that has run out of room inside an existing bund, or that has a hard standing draining to an interceptor it would rather not test, has two options: build more concrete, or buy a vessel that brings its containment with it. Where the position is inside an existing containment area, check two things that people miss: that the new pad does not block the fall of the floor to the sump, and that there is still a walkway all the way round the tank when it is in place, because the face you cannot reach is the face that never gets inspected. The 1.5 rating is what decides whether this is your row at all. It carries 108,837 pounds of maximum contents against 72,558 pounds of plain water, which is a working margin over water rather than a margin over something much denser. This one is the lighter listing at the lower of the two ratings, and its material field is the bare word polyethylene with nothing further written against it. We print what the sheet prints and nothing more, because inventing a qualifier for a field the maker left plain would be worse than leaving the question open. An opening named, a pipe size not

• The outlet field: it reads "1 Manway / Lid", with the inlet field empty. That names an opening and not a pipe size. No outlet dimension, thread, bulkhead, flange or valve is published on this sheet, so none is claimed on this page, and anyone reading a size into that field is guessing. Give us the duty and the line size and we will confirm what this part number actually carries.
• The opening: an 18 inch threaded vented manway is the only one published. It is the fill route, the inspection route and the cleaning route together, so plan everything you want on top around one hole.
• The vent: the manway is listed as vented, and the air has to move at the rate the liquid does. On a bulk fill into 8,700 gallons that is a lot of air. Keep the path clear, look at it whenever the manway is open, and never blank or restrict it.
• Access: the manway is at 197 inches, so a fixed ladder or platform, a fall protection arrangement and a ground level fill connection are part of the installation rather than an afterthought on delivery day.

Water, rinse and dilute solution at bulk scale
