Where a tall, narrow 2000 fits
Buy this shape when you need two thousand gallons and the floor is spoken for: against the wall of a packing shed or a shop, in a row of tanks along a fence line, in a corner where the wide 2000 gallon shells will not go. Height is the whole decision. At 152 inches the top of the tank is twelve and a half feet up, which rules out eaves, most barn bays and many shop ceilings, so measure the clearance and the door before you order. The manway is up there with it; plan a fill line plumbed to the top and fit the float switch or level gauge before the tank goes into service. The 64 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface; because it carries 25020 lb at full rating on a five foot circle, a concrete pad designed for that load is the right foundation. What goes in it
Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware. On a tank this tall, the pressure at the outlet when full is higher than on a short tank of the same volume, so use a valve and fittings rated for the job, not garden grade.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in and to get a brush inside. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.
