The Enduraplas 250 Gallon Black Horizontal Sump Bottom Leg Tank (SKU THD00250B) is a 250-gallon black polyethylene horizontal leg tank built to be hauled. Integral support legs and a 47 x 55-inch footprint let it sit and travel on a skid, trailer, or pickup bed without a separate cradle, and the sump bottom drains the tank low so you transfer or empty out nearly the full volume. Overall dimensions are 37 inches high, 47 inches wide, and 55 inches long, and it carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, which is what lets it run heavy fertilizer blends and chemical loads rather than just water. See the technical drawing on this page for the molded geometry and leg layout.

Will this Enduraplas leg tank work for your load?

Size the weight before you mount it. Filled with plain water at 250 gallons, the tank and contents run about 2,085 lbs. At its 1.9 specific gravity rating, the maximum rated contents weight reaches 3,962 lbs, so a fully loaded heavy-density blend is nearly twice the weight of water. Confirm your trailer or truck bed and tie-down points are rated for that figure before you fill. No factory fitting configuration is on file for this SKU, so confirm outlet and bulkhead size and location with us before ordering rather than assuming a sump drain fitting is included. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to match gallons and weight to your hauling setup. For fertilizer-blend hauling, our guide on fertilizer-blend tank stratification covers thermal layering and the mixing protocol that keeps a blend from salting out before the spreader runs, and the applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer and loaf-style portable utility tank guides explain the DOT and 49 CFR considerations for road and farm-fleet use.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded in high-density polyethylene with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. The OEM resin code on file for this tank is unconfirmed, so verify the exact resin (HDLPE versus XLPE / cross-linked) with us before putting this tank into chemical service - the two resins behave differently under aggressive chemicals, and you do not want to guess. Compatibility below is drawn from the OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; always match your exact concentration and service temperature against that chart, and select fitting and gasket materials accordingly.

Compatible chemicals for this resin and SG rating include acetic acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), aluminum sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM), calcium chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM), DEF (32.5%, 316SS, EPDM), ethylene glycol (100%, PVC, EPDM), ferric chloride (50%, PVC, EPDM), ferric sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), ferrous sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM), hydrochloric acid (37%, PVC, Viton), hydrofluoric acid (48%, PP/PVC, Viton), hydrofluosilicic acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), hydrogen peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), magnesium chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM), peracetic acid (30%, 316SS, Aflas), phosphoric acid (85%, PVC, Viton), polyaluminum chloride (PVC, EPDM), potassium carbonate (50%, PVC, EPDM), potassium hydroxide (saturated, PVC, EPDM), propylene glycol (PP/316SS, EPDM), sodium bisulfate (PVC/PP, EPDM), sodium bisulfite (PVC/PP, EPDM), sodium carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM), sodium hypochlorite (rated only up to 16.5% concentration, PVC, Viton), sodium thiosulfate (40%, PVC, EPDM), sulfuric acid (98%, CPVC, Viton), urea solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM), zinc orthophosphate (PP/316SS, EPDM), and ozonated water (PVC, EPDM, rated for short-contact service up to 10 PPM only, since ozone is a strong oxidizer). Note the fitting and gasket pairings: chlorine-bearing and oxidizing services such as sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, the strong acids, and peracetic acid call for Viton or Aflas gaskets rather than EPDM, and DEF, peracetic acid, propylene glycol, and zinc orthophosphate want 316 stainless fittings. Review the full chemical compatibility reference before ordering, and confirm your concentration and temperature against the chart.

The mistake to avoid

The most common and costly error on a 1.9 SG rated leg tank is matching the right tank but the wrong fitting and gasket. A tank that handles 98% sulfuric acid or 37% hydrochloric acid will still leak or fail at the bulkhead if you install EPDM where the chart calls for Viton or CPVC. Specify the gasket and fitting material per chemical from the chart above, and do not assume the legs and sump dictate the wetted-part materials - they are independent choices. And because the resin code on file is unconfirmed, settle HDLPE versus XLPE with us by phone before committing the tank to any aggressive chemical.
