Where a tank this size earns its place
Eleven thousand gallons is farm, ranch, fire reserve and small municipal territory: a season of stock water, a fire water reserve for a property the hydrants do not reach, irrigation buffer storage, or a holding tank in a water reuse train. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall, with a 2 inch reducer in it. Run 3 inch pipe for fast draw-down or leave the reducer in for a 2 inch valve. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the tank wall carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 22 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough for a fill line, a float switch and a person's shoulders for inspection and cleaning. The vent lets air in and out as the level moves; never plug it.
- Liquids heavier than water. This is the standard duty 1.5 tank. If what you store runs heavier than 1.5 times the weight of water, step up to the heavy duty version listed below.
