Norwesco 1505 Gallon Black Vertical Storage Tank

Where it goes and what it holds

This is a water tank for a site with more height than ground: beside a well house, against the back wall of a garage, between a house and a fence line, or in a pump shed with a tall roof. Eleven feet three to the crown on a five foot circle is the whole point. Hauled water storage, rainwater off a roof, stock water and a small fire reserve are the usual jobs. Plan around the height: the manway sits at the top of 135 inches, so filling, float valve service and cleaning need a ladder or a platform. A tall narrow tank is the least forgiving of a poor pad, because a high spot under one edge becomes a lean you can see from across the yard; the pad has to be flat, continuous and level under the whole 60 inch base, and our guide to concrete pad sizing for above ground polyethylene tanks sets out the slab. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Your valve, camlock or pump suction threads straight in; a 2 inch line is plenty for a house, a stock water line or a drip system. On a tank this tall the head at the outlet is higher than on a squat tank of the same volume, so support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own within a foot of the wall and put a flexible connector before the first rigid joint.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: fill from a hose, drop a float or a level sensor in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. Leave the vent clear so air can move as the level changes.
3. Extra ports. Only the one outlet comes installed. An overflow, a second draw or a top fill port means extra bulkhead fittings; tell us when you order and we quote them with the tank.

Two people can walk it off a liftgate and roll it on its base to the pad; it is the height that makes it awkward, not the weight.
