A 2500 gallon heavy duty vertical tank in light blue for dense liquids
The Norwesco 2500 gallon heavy duty vertical liquid storage tank in light blue, part number 40052, is a high density linear polyethylene tank 95 inches in diameter and 90 inches tall, weighing 425 lb empty. Heavy duty is the point: it is rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity, so it holds dense fertilizers and chemicals that a standard 1.5 tank cannot, and the light blue colour is how Norwesco marks that rating in the yard. It comes with a 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The service limit is 120 F. Where it goes
Liquid fertilizer at a farm or a dealer, dense treatment chemicals at a water or wastewater plant, brine and de-icing liquid at a road yard, and process liquids at an industrial site. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the sidewall, with a 2 inch reducer already in it. Run 2 inch pipe straight into the reducer, or take the reducer out for a full 3 inch connection. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own, and use a flexible connector to rigid pipe; a polyethylene tank grows as it fills.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean.
- The liquid. Check anything other than water against the maker's chemical guidance before it goes in, and ask us if you are not sure. Hotter than 120 F needs a different tank.

The pad and the first fill
The tank wants a level, continuous surface larger than its 95 inch footprint, with no edge, drain or joint under the wall: a concrete pad outdoors, a sound slab indoors. Full it is a concentrated load of 20850 lb or more, and the floor rating belongs to your engineer. Fill with water the first time, slowly, and walk the fittings for weeps before anything else goes in.

The tank is oversize freight, 95 by 95 by 90 inches and 425 lb, on a flatbed from the nearest of Norwesco's plants; this tank is made at a dozen of them, so the lane is usually short. You need a forklift or several hands and a clear bay to take it off the truck.
