Norwesco 3000 Gallon Black Vertical Storage Tank

Where it goes and what it holds

Three thousand gallons is the size a household on hauled water, a hobby farm, a nursery or a rural fire reserve lands on when a smaller tank means too many fills. It is also a common rainwater cistern size behind a barn or a shop roof. At 91 inches across and 119 tall, the tank stands a little under ten feet, so the manway needs a step ladder and the pad needs clear sky above it. A full tank is more than twelve tons of water, and polyethylene follows whatever it is set on, so the pad has to be flat, continuous and level under the entire base; our guide to concrete pad sizing for above ground polyethylene tanks sets out the slab. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Your valve, camlock or pump suction threads straight in; a 2 inch line is plenty for a house, a stock water line or a drip system. Support the valve and the first length of pipe within a foot of the wall so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: fill from a hose, drop a float or a level sensor in, and get a hand and a brush inside to clean. Leave the vent clear so air can move as the level changes.
3. Extra ports. Only the one outlet comes installed. An overflow, a second draw or a top fill port means extra bulkhead fittings; tell us when you order and we quote them with the tank.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 400 from Norwesco's Sheldon, Iowa plant as a 91 by 91 by 119 inch load weighing 464 lb. It travels empty and upright; two or three people can walk it off a liftgate and roll it on its base to the pad, or a loader with straps does it in one lift.
