Chemical compatibility

The resin is listed as HDLPE with a question mark, so confirm whether you have an HDLPE or XLPE shell with us before putting this tank into chemical service - the two resins behave differently with aggressive chemistry. One thing to be clear on up front: this tank ships with no fittings specified, and every fitting and gasket material below is a compatibility recommendation you spec and source separately when you order bulkhead fittings - not hardware that comes on the tank. All of it comes from the OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific, so verify your exact concentration and operating temperature against that chart before ordering.
At the listed concentrations, this tank handles a broad chemical range with PVC or PP fittings and EPDM gaskets as the default: aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), magnesium chloride (30%), ferric chloride (50%), ferric sulfate (60%), ferrous sulfate (20%), acetic acid (60%), ethylene glycol (100%), potassium carbonate (50%), potassium hydroxide (saturated), sodium carbonate (30%), sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium thiosulfate (40%), polyaluminum chloride, urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM).
Two material exceptions decide whether a job runs or fails. First, gaskets: most of the list is EPDM, but Viton is required for hydrochloric acid (37%), hydrofluoric acid (48%), hydrofluosilicic acid (26%), phosphoric acid (85%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), sodium hypochlorite (under 16.5%), and sulfuric acid (98%), and Aflas is required for peracetic acid (30%). The wrong elastomer is the single most common field failure on an otherwise compatible tank. Second, fittings: several services break the PVC default and demand metal or CPVC - DEF (32.5%) and peracetic acid (30%) call for 316 stainless, propylene glycol and zinc orthophosphate allow PP or 316 stainless, and sulfuric acid (98%) needs CPVC, not plain PVC. Spec those before you buy hardware. There is no heavier-rated alternative to step up to here - the 1.9 SG ceiling is firm.
