On a trailer or on the ground

Leg tanks this size are nurse tanks: they carry liquid fertilizer from the dealer to the field and feed the applicator, or they sit on a pad as bulk storage where a vertical tank would be too tall. Full of water the load is about 50250 lb before the tank, and full of fertilizer more, so the trailer's axle and deck ratings, not the tank, are the limit. The tank must sit on all its legs on a flat, continuous deck; a leg hanging off the edge or over a gap carries a share of the load it was not shaped for. Strap it through the moulded leg recesses, never over the manway, and use the five N-64085 bands Norwesco specifies for this tank; the add-ons box on this page lists them. On the ground, the tank needs the same flat, continuous surface under every leg.

What goes in it

Liquid fertilizer is the normal load, with water second. The 1.9 rating gives margin for the dense blends and the common farm and treatment chemicals. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, with a 2 inch reducer in the box. Run 3 inch to a transfer pump for a fast turnaround at the field edge; use the reducer where the hose and valve are already 2 inch. Support the valve and the first length of hose on their own.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: the fill point, the vent and the inspection opening.
3. Bands. Five N-64085 bands, required for transport. Order them with the tank so they arrive together.

Have a forklift with long forks or a crane ready for unloading.
