Norwesco Vertical Storage Tanks
Norwesco vertical storage tanks are one-piece polyethylene tanks for storing liquids above ground, from 10 gallons up to 20,000 gallons. Standard tanks are white (natural) and rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity. Most heavy duty tanks are light blue and rated to 1.9 specific gravity for heavier liquids. A few large sizes also come in black, and the 15,000 and 20,000 gallon tanks come in yellow for fertilizer.
What people use them for
- Bulk storage of fertilizer, herbicide and other farm chemicals
- Holding process water, rinse water and wash water at plants and shops
- Storing liquids for mixing, batching and dosing
- Non-potable water for irrigation, dust control and wash-down
Sizes and features
Most small tanks (10 to 300 gallons) have a 5 or 8 inch lid and fit on a bench, in a shed or in a trailer. Most mid-size tanks (500 to 3,450 gallons) have a 16 inch manway, and many of the largest tanks have a 22 inch manway. Each tank comes with one outlet fitting on the bottom of the sidewall. The Specific Gravity Rating line on each product page shows the weight limit: 1.5 is up to 12.52 lbs per gallon, and 1.9 is up to 15.87 lbs per gallon. Check each product's specifications for the exact diameter, height, fitting size and ship-from location.
Before you order
- Know your liquid. Find its specific gravity and make sure it's compatible with polyethylene. If it weighs more than 12.52 lbs per gallon, choose a light blue heavy duty tank.
- Plan the pad. Set the tank on a level, solid base that supports the whole bottom, such as concrete or compacted gravel.
- Big tanks ship in pairs. On the 15,000 and 20,000 gallon tanks from St. Bonifacius, MN or Albertville, AL, two tanks must ship together on one truck.
- Not for fuel. Don't use these tanks for gasoline, diesel or any other fuel.
Questions we get
White or light blue: which do I need?
It depends on the weight of the liquid. White tanks are rated to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water and most light liquids. Light blue heavy duty tanks are rated to 1.9 for heavier liquids.
Can I store drinking water in these?
For drinking water, see Norwesco Vertical Water Tanks. They come in black or green, which blocks the light that helps algae grow.
Can these tanks hold fertilizer?
Many liquid fertilizers weigh more than water, so choose a heavy duty (1.9) tank. If you need a tank that drains completely, see Norwesco Cone Bottom Tanks.
