1,000 gallons of used oil, double walled, under six feet
The Snyder 5990102N95703 is a 1,000 gallon double wall waste oil tank in yellow high density linear polyethylene, 81 inches across and 69 inches tall, weighing 450 pounds. A 1,000 gallon primary stands inside its own secondary shell, so a failed inner wall is a contained one. On top is an 18 inch hinged, lockable manway with a strainer basket; at the outlet is a 2 inch male camlock on an internal draw pipe for the hauler's hose, and there is a 2 inch inlet for a shop's used-oil transfer line. It is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9 and listed to NSF-61.

The used-oil tank for a fleet
A thousand gallons is a municipal fleet, a truck dealership, a mine or a large farm: enough used oil that the hauler comes on a schedule and the transfer line from the service bays runs straight to the tank. The low, wide shape is deliberate; at 69 inches it goes under a mezzanine or against a low wall, and the 81 inch base keeps it from being top-heavy when a fast pump-out drops the level. The RCRA 40 CFR 264.193 secondary containment guide explains the containment, leak detection and inspection a hazardous waste tank system needs, and the SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance walkthrough covers where a double wall tank meets an oil spill plan on its own. The tank sizing calculator works from oil changes per week and the hauler's interval, and the tank sizing guide covers matching a waste tank to that schedule.
The double wall waste oil sizes
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5990102N95703 (this tank) | 1,000 | 81 x 69 in | 450 lb |
| 5990902N95703 | 750 | 73 x 66 in | 300 lb |
| 5780102N95703 | 500 | 53 x 81 in | 280 lb |
The 750 gallon tank is the same low shape 8 inches narrower and 3 inches shorter, 150 pounds lighter; the 500 gallon tank is the tall one, 53 inches across and 81 inches high, for a bay with floor space for a barrel but not a pallet. All three share the lockable manway, the strainer basket and the camlock draw pipe, so the hauler's procedure is the same whichever the shop buys.

How it works
- Fill: 18 inch hinged, lockable manway with a strainer basket for drain pans, and a 2 inch inlet for a piped transfer line from the bays.
- Empty: 2 inch male camlock on an internal draw pipe; the hauler couples a hose and pumps from the bottom.
- Rating: 1.9 specific gravity, 15,846 pounds of contents at that density, far inside the margin for used oil, coolant or hydraulic fluid.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C; let hot drain oil cool before it goes in.
Warm oil expands as it cools and the interstitial space has its own volume, so the usable capacity is a little under the nominal 1,000 gallons; the Captor double wall freeboard sizing guide does the arithmetic. The Snyder Captor 110 percent containment comparison sets the polyethylene double wall against UL 142 steel, which rusts from the inside on waste oil service in a way polyethylene does not.
Where it lives
Fleet and transit garages, truck and equipment dealerships, rental yards, mines and large farms. One fluid per tank, labeled: a hauler will refuse oil with coolant in it. The chemical list below is the resin's compatibility list, and it is far longer than a waste oil tank will ever use.
Freight for a 1,000 gallon tank
The tank ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-02) at a class rate; the freight cost estimator returns it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A forklift handles 450 pounds on its pallet. Set it where the hauler's hose reaches and the bay transfer line can be run, check the manway lock and the camlock cap, and connect the inlet before the first drain pan is emptied into it.
Plumbing the transfer line is where a fleet shop gets its money back. A used-oil pump at each bay, or one central pump on a manifold, pushes drained oil to the tank's 2 inch inlet through hard pipe or oil-rated hose, so nobody carries a drain pan across a floor. The line enters above the liquid level, with a check valve so a full tank cannot back up into the bay, and a shutoff at the tank. On pickup day the hauler couples to the camlock, pumps the tank down through the draw pipe, and leaves; the strainer basket is lifted and emptied, the manway is locked again, and the date and volume go in the log that the inspector will ask for.
