The Snyder 5330000C34 is a black polyethylene vertical storage tank, 142 inches across and 169 inches tall, holding 10,500 gallons at 2,250 pounds. It is the lighter of Snyder's two black 10,500s, the one molded in Lincoln, Nebraska and Philippi, West Virginia for the Plains and the East, fourteen feet to the 18 inch threaded, vented manway on a twelve foot base. The black wall keeps light off two tankers of liquid, and the wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 166,383 pounds of contents against 87,570 for water, the wall for concentrated acid, ferric and the heavy brines at strength. Two tankers, dark
A chemical that loses strength in light, or water that would go green by August, is why a plant pays for the black wall on a tank this size: black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white tank and passes none of it to the liquid. Fittings on a tall tank
- Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; tell us the liquid when ordering and the fitting is matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 169 inches up; a platform with a rail for anyone who opens it. Three rules for the top: a dip tube to the floor for the fill, an outdoor vent on anything that fumes, and a vent sized to the truck's pump.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Fourteen feet of liquid above a 3 inch outlet is a strong flooded suction, and the outlet drains a full tank in a working shift; the pump sits below the outlet and primes itself, and a low-level float stops it before the tank runs dry. Close the manway to hold vapor, mark the tank with the chemical it stores, and make the headspace wall the thing you look at with a light whenever the lid is off. Frost is a pipe problem, not a tank problem: trace or wrap the outlet valve and the first length of pipe, and let the body take ice from the top down.
