A 150 gallon double wall chemical tank on a 34 inch base
The Snyder 5710102N45 is a small double wall chemical tank: a 150 gallon white high density linear polyethylene primary rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 2,377 pounds of contents against 1,251 for water, standing inside its own secondary containment in a shell 34 inches across and 60 inches tall, weighing 110 pounds. It is the day tank beside a dosing pump with the spill tray built in, so a leak stays inside the tank instead of on the floor of an occupied room. A 14 inch threaded, vented lid, a 3 year warranty, and it ships as standard LTL freight.

Containment at day-tank scale
One hundred fifty gallons is a week or two of chemical for a small dosing pump, and the usual arrangement is a single wall tank on a spill tray that fills with rain, dust and whatever was rinsed off it last. The double wall replaces the tray with an interstice that stays closed and dry until the day the primary leaks, when it holds the whole 150 gallons; the SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance walkthrough sets out where a double wall tank meets a spill plan without a berm. What follows is the chemistry the resin is rated to hold; check the liquid at its concentration in the chemical compatibility database. The 150 gallon vertical tank buyers guide and the second 150 gallon guide compare the single wall tanks at this volume, the right comparison only if a spill tray is already in place. The tank sizing calculator sizes a day tank to the pump's rate and the refill schedule, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 34 inch double wall, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5710102N45 (this tank) | 150 | 34 x 60 in | 110 lb |
| 5710102N30 (sulfuric grade) | 150 | 34 x 62 in | 110 lb |
| 5710102N42 (XLPE) | 150 | 34 x 62 in | 110 lb |
| 5700102N42 (XLPE) | 120 | 34 x 51 in | 100 lb |
| 5990502N42 (XLPE) | 250 | 34 x 83 in | 150 lb |
The N30 is the sulfuric acid grade and the N42 is cross-linked polyethylene for hypochlorite and the other oxidizers, both at this tank's weight and 2 inches taller on the sheet. The 5700102N42 is the 120 gallon double wall on this same base, 9 inches shorter, and the 5990502N42 is the 250 gallon step up at 83 inches, both in cross-linked resin.

Manway, outlet, alarms, interstice
- Access: 14 inch threaded, vented lid on the primary; hose or tote pump fill through a dip tube; vent outdoors on a fuming liquid.
- Outlet: through both walls together; specify the bulkhead fitting for the chemical when ordering, and a flexible line to the pump suction.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Two levels to watch: the primary, with a sender chosen for the chemical, and the interstitial space, which is the leak alarm and gets a float switch or a look each shift. A day tank is also where overfills happen, because a tote pump runs until someone stops it, so a high-level switch on the primary is cheap insurance. Strap the tank to a wall; a 34 inch base under 60 inches of dense liquid has a high center of gravity. Mount the dosing pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, and keep the lid closed against vapor loss.
Day-to-day duty
Coagulant, caustic and inhibitor day tanks at small water systems and cooling towers, acid and caustic make-up on a lab or pilot skid, chemical feed carts, and any 150 gallon vessel of regulated chemical inside an occupied building. One chemical per tank, labeled, rinsed at every changeover, which takes a minute.

From the plant to your site
The 5710102N45 ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-03) at a class rate; the freight cost estimator quotes it to your ZIP, and what is listed here is the price before freight. Two people carry 110 pounds through a door. Check the lid and the outlet fitting, water-test the primary and confirm the interstice stays dry, then drain and dry before the first chemical goes in. Write the fill date on the manway with a paint marker; it answers the first question anyone asks about a tank.
