The Snyder Industries 200 Gallon ASTM XLPE Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is a 200-gallon vertical storage tank molded in black crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) and rated to a 1.9 specific gravity. It stands 69 inches tall on a compact 33 x 33 inch footprint, so it fits a tight pad, a pump-house corner, or a bed-mounted rural water setup without spreading out. If you are shopping "200 gallon" vertical storage and want a heavy-duty wall rather than a light utility drum, the 1.9 SG rating is the number that separates this tank from thinner XLPE builds.

Will it work for your site?

Filled with water, this tank carries about 1,668 lb of contents; its wall is rated to hold up to 3,169 lb of contents, which is the headroom the 1.9 specific gravity rating buys you for denser liquids than water. Size your pad and any stand to the loaded weight, not the empty shell, and keep the base fully supported across the full 33-inch diameter. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm the 200-gallon capacity and loaded weight line up with your draw and your foundation, and if this tank is feeding a rural or remote fire-water reservoir, our NFPA 22 reservoir sizing guide walks through storage volume discipline. To size usable versus nominal volume with freeboard for thermal expansion, the ASTM D1998 freeboard guide covers the math.

Fittings and connections

Per the technical drawing on this page, the tank is configured with a fill cap featuring a 7-inch access opening, a 10-inch polyethylene threaded-vented lid, a 7-inch by 10-inch flat fitting mount, and additional flat fittings and a flange. Match your gaskets and bulkhead hardware to those exact ports — 7-inch, 10-inch, and 7-inch by 10-inch — so the inlet, outlet, and vent seat correctly, and reference the drawing for fitting locations and heights before you plumb. If you want a second set of eyes on the layout, call and we will confirm the fitting configuration before you order.

Crosslinked polyethylene — know before you buy

This is XLPE (crosslinked), not standard HDPE. Crosslinking builds a tougher, more impact- and stress-crack-resistant wall, which is why it earns the heavy-duty, higher-SG rating — but XLPE is not field-weldable or repairable the way linear HDPE is, so plan connections through the molded fittings rather than after-the-fact modifications. If you are weighing the two wall types, our guide on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE walks through when crosslinking is worth it. For above-ground placement, the concrete pad sizing framework covers building a base that carries the loaded weight.
