Snyder part number 5050000N51 is the heavy duty wall in Snyder's 2,000 gallon black vertical shell: 90 inches in diameter, 88 inches tall, 400 lb empty, moulded in polyethylene and rated for liquids up to 1.9 specific gravity. That rating is what you buy it for. Water fills it to 16,680 lb; at the full 1.9 rating it carries up to 31,692 lb of a dense chemical, the acids, coagulants and brines that a standard wall is not rated to hold. It fills through an 18 inch threaded vented manway on top. The service limit is 120 F (48 C), and Snyder backs it with a 3 year warranty. The black wall keeps daylight off chemicals that degrade in light.

When the heavy wall is the right buy
Specific gravity is the weight of a liquid against water. A 1.9 rating covers liquids up to 1.9 times as heavy, and at 2,000 gallons that is the day tank for a treatment plant's coagulant, the acid tank in a metal finishing shop, or a brine or a concentrated fertilizer at a yard. If what you store is water or a dilute solution, the lighter 1.5 and 1.35 walls on this same shell do the job for less freight; the heavy wall earns its weight only when the liquid is dense. Check the chemical against polyethylene in our chemical compatibility guide and keep it at or below 120 F. At 88 inches tall the tank clears a low ceiling that its taller siblings cannot, which is why many plant rooms end up with this size. Openings and fittings
- Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top at 88 inches, reachable from a short platform. Keep it closed between deliveries on a chemical that fumes; the wall above the liquid line lives in that vapour.
- Outlet. Tell us the chemical and the line size at order and we will confirm which outlet fitting this part number ships with and match the gasket and bolting to it. On a dense chemical the first valve and the first pipe run are supported off the slab, with a flexible connector between the tank and hard pipe.

Check the part number against 5050000N51 on the bill of lading before you sign; the heavy duty wall looks like the standard one from the outside and the number is how you tell. Stand it with straps under the body, never by the manway. Fill it with water first and hold the fill while you watch the base and the outlet, then drain and dry it before the chemical arrives.
