Seven feet, for the room with no headroom

A 2,000 gallon chemical tank under a seven and a half foot ceiling with room to open the lid is a narrow target, and this shape hits it. The wider base gives it a lower center of gravity and less strapping than the 90 inch tanks for the same volume. Full at the rating it puts 31,692 pounds on a 96 inch circle, and a rotationally molded floor bears on all of it: a slab engineered to the concrete pad sizing guide and in full contact with the floor, with a berm sized to the tank around it when the liquid is regulated. Black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white wall and passes no light to the liquid; it runs warmer in the sun, so shade if the chemical must stay cool, and it hides the level, so a sender read at the pad is the gauge. The 5050000C34, 8130000C34 and C37-BLACK are the black 2,000s on a 90 inch base at 88 inches under two part families, and the C26 the white one; each is rated as its own sheet says. The 1780200N40 stands 1,900 gallons on a 72 inch base at 119 inches for a site with height and no floor, and the 5090000C26 is the 2,500 on the 90 inch base at 107 inches.

Openings on a low tank

• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; tell us the liquid when ordering and the fitting is matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 84 inches up, reached from a short step; fill by tote pump or truck through a dip tube, vent outside on acid and caustic service, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Seven feet of liquid above the outlet is a flooded suction to the last few inches; the pump sits below the outlet and primes itself, and a low-level float stops it before the tank runs dry. Close the manway to hold vapor, mark the tank with the chemical it stores, and make the headspace wall the thing you look at with a light whenever the lid is off. Frost is a pipe problem, not a tank problem: trace or wrap the outlet valve and the first length of pipe, and let the body take ice from the top down.

Low rooms and open pads
