A 4,500 gallon XLPE vertical tank, 143 inches across and 91 inches tall
Snyder part number 7000400N40 is a 4,500 gallon vertical storage tank in natural white crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE). At 900 lb empty it is the lightest way Snyder holds this volume, and at 91 inches tall it is one of the lowest; the diameter is 143 inches. It is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and the lighter process and treatment solutions; 4,500 gallons of water weighs 4,500 x 8.34 = 37,530 lb. The top opening is an 18 inch threaded vented manway. Snyder sets the service limit at 140 F and backs it with a 3 year warranty. It is moulded in Chowchilla, CA and ships LTL at freight class 400.

Light, low and wide
Three things make the case for this tank. It is light: 900 lb is handled by ordinary yard equipment and moved again if the plant is rearranged. It is low: 91 inches goes under roofs, inside curbs and beneath mezzanines that stop every taller tank at the door. And it is the standard wall, rated 1.5, which is the honest buy for water, rinse and wash water, a fertilizer or nutrient solution under a shed roof, hypochlorite and other treatment chemicals in a low chemical bay, and process or makeup water anywhere. Full, the tank spreads over 37,530 lb across a 143 inch circle, and a rotationally moulded floor bears on the whole of it, so a low corner takes a large share of the load; have the slab engineered, poured level and in full contact per the concrete pad sizing guide. Openings and what to check before you buy
- Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 91 inches up, worked from a short fixed ladder and a small platform. A wide, shallow body mixes poorly on a splash fill, so fill through a dip tube to the floor on any liquid that settles, and size the vent path to the delivery pump.
- Outlet. No outlet fitting is listed on this product. Tell us the liquid, the pipe size and where the connection goes and we will confirm what comes installed and what you add. With 91 inches of liquid over the floor a pump has little suction head: mount it below the outlet, keep the run short, and fit a low-level cutout.
- Rating. 1.5 specific gravity and 140 F. Heavier or hotter liquids need the heavy duty version of this shell or a different tank; ask us.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 400 from Snyder's Chowchilla, CA plant, 143 x 143 x 91 inches and 900 lb. Freight class 400 is higher than the heavy duty version of the same shell carries, so price the lane before you decide between them; a light tank is not automatically the cheaper one on the dock. It rides as a wide load, so the yard needs a clear approach and a telehandler or forklift with long forks. Lift with straps under the body, never with a hook through the manway.
