4,500 gallons at 1.5 specific gravity under eight feet, ASTM certified

The Snyder 7000400N43 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 143 inches across and only 91 inches tall, holding 4,500 gallons at 900 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5, or 56,295 pounds of contents against 37,530 for water, so it holds brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered as well as water, it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, and the twelve foot base puts a tanker load under a barn roof with the manway reached from a short ladder. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway tops it, Snyder's 3 year warranty stands behind it, and it ships oversize.

The middle wall, certified, laid low

A water-rated wall is for water and nothing heavier; the heaviest wall is for concentrated acid; a 1.5 wall is the middle, sized for brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered and every water application, with margin. D1998 is what the certification refers to, and it is met in the thickness of the wall; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why the headspace is where a wall ages. Full, it puts 56,295 pounds on a 143 inch circle at the rating, and the low shape puts it there without the lever arm a tall tank has in wind; a compacted, screeded gravel base or a slab in full contact carries it, per the concrete pad sizing guide. The tank sizing calculator tells you whether 4,500 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.

The N45 is the certified 1.9 wall, 200 pounds heavier, for ferric at strength and the heavy brines; the N39 is the certified 1.35 wall at this tank's weight, and the N29 and N32 other grades in this shell. The 5210000N43 stands this same 1.5 wall on a 90 inch base at 182 inches for a small pad, and the 7000500N40 holds 4,600 gallons of cross-linked resin on a 120 inch base at 116 inches.

Connections

  • Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 91 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
  • Outlet: tell us the liquid when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, an expansion joint, and the valve supported off the pad.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
  • Listing: ASTM certification.

The white wall shows the level in daylight; a float switch for low level protects a pump, and the low shape keeps the suction flooded to the last few inches. Mount the pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and keep the tank out of direct sun where the liquid is light-sensitive. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe.

Delivery day at the manway

Unloading a tanker pushes air out faster than a stock manway vent can pass it; size the vent for that rate, or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead vented separately. A fill pipe to the floor keeps the liquid from free-falling and foaming. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the pad edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and the log takes the date and strength of every load that follows.

What it holds in practice

Coagulant, brine and fertilizer solution delivered by tanker at plants and farms that need the certification on file and have a low roof, well storage for a community system, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the low center of gravity counts. One liquid per tank, labeled.

Getting it to the pad

At 143 inches across the 7000400N43 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate, often with an escort; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 900 pounds on the pad. Prove it with a fill to the manway and a hold, check the outlet fitting, and file the certification with the project. Once it is full and holding, leave it alone for a day before the plumbing goes on; a settled tank is a quiet one.

Freight and documents
